In July 2019, a herd of zebras came close to a Maasai village in the Enduimet Wildlife Management Area (WMA). With the zebras approaching, the village dogs went out to attack – the herd fled, except for a tiny newborn zebra that was left behind, as it clould not keep up the chase. It was far too young to run for its life and the pack of dogs changed their aim from the herd to the little foal and descended on it. The Maasai herders chased off the dogs and kindly rescued the foal. Attempts to reunite little Lerangwa with his herd and mother were unsuccessful. The WMA called for help and Lerangwa came to the Center.
